Happy Volunteers’ Week 2026!
Volunteers’ Week is a special opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution our volunteers make across Westminster. Your time, kindness and commitment make a real difference to residents and communities every day, and we are hugely grateful for everything you do.
During Volunteers Week (1-7th of June), Westminster Connects volunteers and Community Researchers are coming together to enjoy a series of cultural and leisure experiences.
On Tuesday 2 June, a group of volunteers enjoyed a special visit to Tate Britain, exploring two exhibitions before relaxing over afternoon tea and cakes in the café. In addition, there was a visit to Kew Palace at Kew Gardens on Wednesday 3rd June, and a trip to London Zoo on Saturday 6th June. These events are a small way for us to say thank you and to celebrate the amazing impact of your volunteering. We very much enjoyed the week’s events and to celebrating with many more of you. Thank you once again for all that you do.
Volunteer Voice: Rabia Rabia shared her joy and appreciation for the day: “Love to work with Westminster Connects as a volunteer, serving my local residents and colleagues, doing work with them and learning skills every time. I really enjoyed the Tate Britain exhibition today — seeing the stories of photographs of people and different stories. Enjoyed the moment with my Westminster Connects volunteers today and enjoyed the social gathering over tea with them”.
Volunteer Voice: Shakir
"It was an awesome experience to spend all day in London Zoo courtesy of the Westminster Council Connects Team, meeting my fellow volunteers across different projects, many of whom I'd not actually met before, as well as catching up with previous colleagues. Two highlights were the game of insect or animal that got us learning about each other in a fun way, and the lounging lion getting up, stretching and growling/yawning at me, inches away!"
Volunteer Voice: Shakirat "It was so great to join with Westminster Connects yesterday in celebrating volunteering week at Tate Britain. I got to meet some of the volunteers and staff who volunteer and work in different projects and events. We started as a group to see the exhibition by Zineb Sedira about cinema, and it was used as political and education expression. It just reminded me as a child my father took me to a place in Fleet Street in the City of London to watch documentary films”.
