Community Exhibition Lights Up Pimlico
Westminster Connects volunteers helped bring creativity and community spirit to life at In a State to Create – The Exhibition, held at Cave in Pimlico on 30 April.
Encouragement Through Talking and Arts (a Pimlico-based charity) and Tate Britain, supported by Westminster Connects volunteers, invited residents in South Westminster to explore their thoughts and feelings through meaningful, cathartic artmaking over six months. The workshops built creative skills, encouraged self-expression, and strengthened social connections.
On the day, volunteers played a key role in welcoming visitors, engaging with the community, and helping the event run smoothly. Their friendly presence helped create a warm and inclusive atmosphere for the opening event.

The organisers praised our volunteers for their commitment throughout the workshops and their outstanding support at the exhibition. “The community exhibition was colourful and vibrant. As a volunteer on the day, I enjoyed welcoming and meeting the art project team and visitors. The venue was a little gem in Pimlico” Nobuko, Westminster Connects Volunteer
“The exhibition was a wonderful celebration of community creativity and partnership. It was lovely to see so many residents, volunteers and partners come together to support and celebrate the work created throughout the project” Suja – Community Development Team, WCC
