Westminster Connects and The Register of Active Residents are joining forces

Westminster Connects and RoAR are coming together

We wanted to tell you about an upcoming change to Westminster Connects.

Westminster Connects and the Register of Active Residents, known as RoAR, are joining together to make it easier for people to get involved in life across Westminster.

RoAR was established in 2022 to help people who live, work or study in Westminster play an active role in shaping the borough. Through RoAR, residents have been able to share local knowledge, contribute ideas, co-design solutions, take part in community activities and gained a better understanding of how council decisions are made.

Westminster Connects will remain the council’s volunteering hub and will also take on RoAR communications, bringing volunteering and resident involvement updates together in one place.

Why are the two projects merging?

Both Westminster Connects and RoAR are about helping people play an active role in Westminster. By bringing them together, we can make it easier for volunteers and residents to find out about opportunities, hear about local projects and events, and get involved in the ways that matter to them most.

The merger will also help us communicate more clearly. Instead of sharing updates through separate channels, information about volunteering, resident participation and community involvement will be brought together through the Westminster Connects platform and newsletter.

What does this mean for volunteers?

For Westminster Connects Volunteers, there is nothing you need to do right now. You will continue to receive volunteering updates and opportunities through the Westminster Connects newsletter and platform. Over time, you may also start to see more opportunities to take part in community activities, share your views and help shape local services and solutions.

This will create more ways for you to use your skills, experience and local knowledge to support Westminster communities. Whether you volunteer regularly, get involved occasionally, or simply want to stay informed about what is happening locally. Westminster Connects will continue to connect you with opportunities to get involved and make a difference in your local community.

As a part of this change, we have changed our generic email address from [email protected] to [email protected]

If you contact our previous email address, your messages should be automatically forwarded to [email protected]

What happens next?

We will keep you updated as Westminster Connects and RoAR come together, including any changes to how information is presented on the Westminster Connects platform. Our aim is to make it simpler and easier for everyone to find opportunities and contribute to life in Westminster.

Thank you for being part of Westminster Connects and for the time, energy and care you give to Westminster’s communities. We look forward to continuing this journey with you and sharing more ways to get involved.
